Janine Ortiz is a dramaturg and author. She studied musicology, German literature, philosophy and art history and completed her doctorate on Franz Schreker’s late operas. She has worked in both opera and theatre, including at the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals, Staatsoper Unter den Linden and Opéra de Lyon. She was Senior Dramaturg at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and headed its acting studio. Since 2025, she has been a dramaturg at the Vienna State Opera. Directors she has worked with include Robert Wilson, Evgeny Titov and Ersan Mondtag.
