Biography

German costume designer Uta Meenen began her career in 2001 with engagements in Düsseldorf, Bochum, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne and Vienna. From 2004 onwards, she began working internationally, with engagements across Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and Austria, and has created costume designs for musicals and operettas include Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Die Czardasfürstin, Evita, My Fair Lady, Madame Pompadour, Der Wildschütz and Kiss Me, Kate. She regularly works with director Ben Baur, with whom her productions have included Don Giovanni, Dialogues des Carmélites, Roméo et Juliette, Il trovatore, The Pearl Fishers, Il pirata, and La Damnation de Faust. At the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, her costume designs can be seen in both Les Misérables and the operetta Waldmeister, staged by Josef E. Köpplinger. She makes her Royal Opera debut in the 2025/26 Season with Ariodante.
