Michael P. Atkinson

Michael P. Atkinson is a distinguished composer, arranger and orchestrator active in the USA and Europe. Michael’s orchestrations of the Stevens/Peck ballets Everywhere We Go, Year of the Rabbit and In the Countenance of Kings have been widely performed by major companies. Michael has orchestrated the music of Craig Taborn, Rufus Wainwright, Jakob Bro, Mikael Karlsson, Keith Jarrett, among many others, for the Brussels Philharmonic, Netherlands Philharmonic, La Monnaie de Munt, The Knights, Vienna Opera Ballet, Swedish Radio Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Operaballet Vlaanderen, BBC Concert Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Norwegian National Ballet. With Mikael Karlsson, Michael composed two original ballets for Scottish Ballet: Coppélia, and Mary, Queen of Scots.  Both works premiered to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh International Festival and have toured internationally.  Michael holds a B.M. and M.M from The Juilliard School.
