Gerrit Jurda studied Theatre and Event Technology Engineering in Berlin and Lighting Design at the August Everding Theatre Academy in Munich. Early lighting design experience includes work at Berlin's Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and as a freelancer. He is also a former Master Electrician for the Prinzregententheater in Munich, and since 2009 has been a lighting designer at Munich's Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel, as well as Head of the Lighting Department since 2020. He has worked with directors including Stefan Bachmann, Claudia Bauer, Sebastian Baumgarten, David Bösch, Andrea Breth, Frank Castorf, Barbara Frey, Herbert Fritsch, Jan Philipp Gloger, Dimiter Gotscheff, Claus Guth, Stephan Kimmig, Mateja Koležnik, Andreas Kriegenburg, Martin Kušej, Thom Luz, Enrico Lübbe, Wilfried Minks, Ersan Mondtag, Amélie Niermeyer, Ivan Panteleev, Claus Peymann, Stefan Pucher, Ulrich Rasche, Nora Schlocker, Johan Simons, Simon Stone and Philipp Stölzl.
