Biography
Anna Morrissey works as a director and movement director across theatre, opera and dance. She founded the RSC’s inaugural movement department and was previously Artist-in-Residence for Historic Royal Palaces. Directing includes The Barber of Seville and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Nevill Holt Opera, Sage Gateshead), Beyond the Deepening Shadows (Tower of London), Julius Caesar (GSMD), Beating Heart Cadaver
(Finborough), All Together Alone (Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House), North West (Camden People’s Theatre), and We’re Here Because We’re Here (associate director, National Theatre). Movement directing includes Middle, Translations, ANNA and World of Extreme Happiness (National Theatre), The Winter’s Tale, Anthony and Cleopatra and Pericles (Royal Shakespeare Company), with West End credits including King Charles III, Imperium, Queen Anne, Emilia (winner of three Olivier Awards) and the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. Opera includes Tosca, Rigoletto and Current, Rising (Royal Opera House), Amadigi (Garsington Opera), Macbeth, The Flying Dutchman, Salome and Noye’s Fludde (Northern Irish Opera). Movement coaching for film and TV includes Beatrix (ITV), Midwitch Cuckoos (Sky Max) and Nebraska (Music Video for Lucy Rose).
